Here is the Mayor of York and North Yorkshire’s consultation on the Police and Fire precept for 2026/27. This consultation sets out options for funding that will determine service and investment levels for for, among other areas, neighbourhood policing, early intervention and road safety.

Road safety is a particular focus, with proposals to support Vision Zero – the ambition to eliminate preventable road deaths caused by speeding, distraction, drink or drug driving, and other dangerous behaviours. The consultation closes at 10am on Monday 5 January 2026. Residents can complete the survey online The Mayor’s Precept Survey 2026/2027 or paper copy can be requested by calling 01423 569 562.
